Playing on Other Devices
Every Pinepods app you're signed in to reports what it's playing to the server. From any of them you can see your other devices and control them: pause the TV-room browser from your phone, or move an episode from your laptop to your phone when you leave the house.
Devices show up while the app is open and connected: web browser tabs, the desktop app, the mobile apps and Firewood. Each shows what it's playing and how far in, or "idle".
Where to find itβ
- Web and desktop: the Other devices button in the top bar (on wide windows) opens the device list.
- Mobile: the devices button on the Now Playing screen, and in the app bar while another device is online.
What you can doβ
For each device in the list:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play / Pause, skip back 15s, skip forward 30s | Controls that device's player. |
| Play here | Plays what that device is playing on the device you're holding, from the same position, and pauses the other one. |
| Send to device | Shown while you're playing something: moves what you're playing to that device. |
To start a particular episode on another device, open the episode's menu and choose Play on (web) or Play on⦠(mobile), then pick the device. The option only appears while another device is online.
Controls a device doesn't support are hidden. Remote control only passes commands between your devices; each device plays from its own player, so if the connection drops you lose remote control, not playback.
